Following the previous post regarding acceleration times of BMW M550d xDrive F10 2012, here is a new video showing some driving scenes.
Along with the F12 M6 cabriolet, BMW has also officialy released the F13 M6 coupe version, which in my opion is the most beautiful BMW from the last decade. All the body design is like an aerodynamic sculpture, combining beauty with performance. The 3d generation BMW m6 comes with more gadgets and performance level than ever before.
Like its predecessor, the roof of the new BMW M6 Coupe is molded from natural color Carbon Fiber Composite. The dark color of the roof gives the two-door car’s silhouette a longer look, which is further emphasized by the dynamic longitudinal character lines unique to the M6 Coupe. The use of the lightweight material for the roof allows the car’s center of gravity to be lowered, enhancing agility. The standard BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line trim surrounds the side windows (or the waistline in the case of the BMW M6 Convertible) and the base and lower section of the aerodynamically optimized M exterior mirror caps.
Today, BMW has officialy released the 2012 BMW M6 F12 Cabriolet and BMW M6 F13 Coupe models. As expected, the 2012 BMW M6 is powered by the same engine with the recently unveiled M5 F10. The S63Tu engine uses similar M Twin Power technology combined with the reverse flow V8 layout. The result is that the high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology offers a powerful power thrust at higher rev ranges for which M cars are known. The iconic M6 returns from a two year hiatus more powerful, more athletic, more focused, more luxurious and more efficient than ever before. Since the “M6” badge was first placed on a BMW back in 1987, this iconic model has exemplified the luxury and daily usability of a top range BMW coupe combined with true super-car performance. Now, in its 3rd generation, the all-new BMW M6 will again be offered as a 4-seat Coupe and Convertible.
The new BMW M6 F12 Coupe and F13 Convertible will be the first cars in the history of BMW M to be offered with optional M Carbon-Ceramic brakes (in conjunction with 20-inch M light-alloy wheels). The brake rotors measure 16.1 inches (410 mm) in diameter at the front and 15.6 inches (396 mm) at the rear. Made from a carbon-fiber ceramic compound, the rotors boast even greater resistance to heat combined with significantly reduced rotating masses. The M Carbon-Ceramic brakes are 42.8 lb (19.4 kg) lighter than the standard brakes.
BMW has published today first official photos and information regarding the new range of M performance diesel automobiles, which was previewed before in two earlier posts: interview with M boss Dr. Friedrich Nitschke and BMW M550d xdrive specs.
This new BMW product category is focused on M performance combined with everyday usability, and very impressive fuel economy. Initially, the category will consist of the following 4 BMW models: BMW M550d xDrive Sedan, BMW M550d xDrive Touring, BMW X5 M50d and BMW X6 M50d. BMW tries to fit the M product range somehow between regular BMW models and true M cars: M5, X5 M, X6 M: performance similar to a M car, but with fuel economy like a regular car.
Who has thought a few years ago about driving a car powered by almost 400 horsepower (381 hp), but with fuel consumption low as 6-7% liters/100km (40-50mpg)? This is the part where BMW technology stands out. BMW was the pioneer in diesel performance cars, by launching on the market in 2005 the 35d engine powered by 2 sequential turbos: a small turbo kicks in at low revs, while a large one goes from 2500rpm with almost no turbo lag at all. Now, when VAG group (Audi and porsche) are announcing new 3.0 liters block powered by 2 turbos with around 300 horsepower, BMW takes the lead and goes further in Diesel technology with three turbocharges and 381 horsepower and 740 Nm torque.
Perfect handling and absolute control on every bend – that’s BMW M on the road and K2 on the piste. It’s a winning combination. That is why BMW M has now joined forces with K2 to create a new, 500-pair limited edition of the outstanding K2 SideShow model: the K2 LTD. BMW M Design Edition.
The design of this special edition was inspired by BMW M automobiles, and is similarly suited for maximum performance, uncompromising driving pleasure, and powerful looks that uniquely combine speed and strength.
